Summary

The professor whose March 7, 2024 Tablet Magazine article How the Gaza Ministry of Health Fakes Casualty Numbers supplies the correlation figures at the centre of Chapter 5, section C of Debunking the Genocide Allegations (Debunking the Genocide Allegations: A Reexamination of the Israel-Hamas War from October 7, 2023 to June 1, 2025, PDF p.123-125).

Details

  • Figures 17 and 18, reproduced from Wyner’s article with his permission, show the lack of statistically significant correlation between reported female and child casualties, and the negative correlation between reported female and male casualties, from October 27 to November 24, 2023 (PDF p.124-125). Read in the original, Figure 17 (Daily Women vs. Daily Children, 15 daily points, two at zero daily women) prints r: 0.130, R²: 0.017, F(1,13)=0.22, PValue=0.6437, and Figure 18 (Daily Men vs. Daily Women, 15 daily points, one plotted below zero daily men) prints r: -0.914, R²: 0.835 (PDF p.124-125).
  • The work also records the limit of Wyner’s further claim: his low-variation claim for casualties between October 26 and November 10 is suspect, the authors say, but does not extend to the November 24 ceasefire and hence cannot be viewed as a strong indication of data manipulation (PDF p.123).
