Details

  • Musa helped found the Chicago chapter of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and became, through it and Fatah-leaning organizations, an important mediator across political and sectarian lines in the immigrant community (PDF p.85).
  • Mahmoud joined after seeing ADC spokesperson James Zoghby defend Arabs and Muslims on national television following the Oklahoma City bombing in April 1995; within a year he was serving on the board of the Chicago chapter, and at Zoghby’s invitation he took part in an ADC fact-finding trip to Palestine in support of the Oslo process (PDF p.97-98).
