Summary
Village south of Nablus, surrounded by the three settlements Yitzhar, Givat Ronen and Har Bracha, where Ghassan Najjar’s testimony in Chapter 7 of From the River to the Sea records the blocking of the October 2023 olive harvest and joint settler-soldier attacks (From the River to the Sea: Essays for a Free Palestine, lines 540-552).
Details
- The olive harvest usually starts around 10 October and is the village’s most important harvest; this year farmers are not let pick olives even between the houses inside the village (line 543).
- About 100 settlers and soldiers attacked the village together in one night; in neighbouring Madama, a five-minute walk away, settlers attacked a thirteen-year-old girl in her house (line 545).
- Farmers go to their land every day despite live bullets, rubber bullets, sound bombs and tear gas (lines 549-551).
