Details
- In Sayegh’s notes as previously ingested, Antonius’s The Arab Awakening (Beirut: Khayats, 1955) is the source quoted for the King-Crane Commission report (p.449) and the General Syrian Congress resolution (p.441) (Zionist Colonialism in Palestine, PDF p.20 / printed p.225).
- In Said: according to Antonius’s study, the Arab renaissance would make Arabs aware of the impossible contradiction between their plans for themselves and their territory, including Palestine, and the plans advanced by Balfour, the Zionists and the French (The Question of Palestine, PDF p.41 / printed p.20).
- Said also notes that even Antonius’s great book made its argument the Arab awakening, not the Palestinian presence, understood in terms of the Arabization and Islamization of the whole Near Orient (The Question of Palestine, PDF p.45 / printed p.24).
