Summary
The research institute whose Gaza casualty reports — Questionable Counting and Stone and Rose’s review of the Gaza Ministry of Health lists — are a principal quantitative source for Chapter 5 of Debunking the Genocide Allegations (Debunking the Genocide Allegations: A Reexamination of the Israel-Hamas War from October 7, 2023 to June 1, 2025, PDF p.125, p.131-132).
Details
- Its review of all the Ministry’s casualty lists from the beginning of the war found no fewer than 6,394 names removed during the war: 1,920 between the October 2024 and March 2025 lists, 1,792 between August and October 2024, and 2,682 between April and August 2024 — 12.78 percent of the total recorded by the GMOH (PDF p.131).
- Figure 19, a list of Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters missing from GMOH casualty lists, is reproduced from Lewi Stone and Gregory Rose, “Hamas Casualty Reports and a Tangle of Technical Problems” (Centre for New Middle East, Henry Jackson Society, April 2025), p.36, with the Society’s permission (PDF p.132).
- Andrew Fox’s report at the Society is cited for GMOH recording individuals who died of natural causes in Israel, during treatment, as having died there due to Israeli military activity, and Fox and Aizenberg’s Hamas’s Human Shield Strategy in Gaza (April 2025) is a Chapter 2 source (PDF p.71-72, p.132-133).
