Summary
The Palestinian land expert whose Palestinian Rights and Losses in 1948 (Saqi Books, London, 1988) supplies Salman Abu Sitta’s land-ownership figures and, with the economist Kubursi, the monetary valuation of seized Palestinian property in Palestinian Right of Return: Sacred, Legal, and Possible (Palestinian Right of Return: Sacred, Legal, and Possible, lines 1005-1030, lines 1798-1804).
Details
- From Hadawi (1988) Abu Sitta takes the land components of his Israel total: Jewish land including public land 1,682,000 d. and Arab land including public land of villages remaining in Israel 1,474,169 d., against his own 17,166,831 d. for the ethnically cleansed villages — 18,641,000 d. (92%) Palestinian of the 20,323,000 d. total (lines 435-455). Abu Sitta’s Beer Sheba-adjusted equivalent figure for settled Arab land, 6,469,012 d., is credited to Hadawi against his own 6,131,758 d. and the Palestine Conciliation Commission expert Jarvis’s 5,194,091 d. (lines 445-455).
- The comprehensive valuation study was Hadawi’s (1988), assisted by the economist Kubursi: total mobile and immobile property £743.050 million, or US 559.3 billion in 1998 dollar terms on Abu Sitta’s inflation calculation (lines 1005-1015).
- The four compensation categories and the components breakdown of Table-9 are based on Hadawi and Kubursi (1988): individual material assets, public material assets, individual non-material assets and public non-material assets (lines 1015-1030).
