Summary
Amendment No. 4 (2015) re-extending the 2006 temporary order that removes procedural safeguards from suspects classified as security detainees, which Adalah’s Discriminatory Laws Database presents as neutral on its face and used almost exclusively against Palestinians, in a Description-only entry (Discriminatory Laws Database, lines 1183-1203).
Details
- The amendment re-extends the 2006 law, in effect for close to 10 years at the entry’s date, for one year to 31 December 2016 (lines 1195-1199).
- Under it a security suspect may be detained up to 96 hours before being brought before a judge, against 48 hours in other cases, and up to 35 days without indictment, against 30 days; the suspect may be kept from detention-extension and appeal hearings where interrupting an investigation is deemed highly likely to thwart efforts to safeguard human life, and may be denied access to a lawyer for up to 21 days, against 48 hours in other cases (lines 1195-1199).
