Summary

Amendment No. 3 (2011) to the Israel Lands Law, passed March 2011, barring the sale, long rental, bequest or transfer of private ownership rights in land in Israel to foreigners, as Adalah’s Discriminatory Laws Database presents it in the part of the entry read in part 1 (Discriminatory Laws Database, lines 1524-1547).

Details

  • No person or party, public or private, may sell land, rent property for a period of over five years, or bequeath or transfer private ownership rights in Israel to “foreigners” (line 1537).
  • Under the law, as the entry construes it, foreigners are any persons who are not residents or citizens of Israel, or Jews, who have the automatic right to immigrate to Israel under the Law of Return (1950); the entry’s sentence groups Jews with residents and citizens as non-foreigners (line 1537).
  • The part of the entry read in this range closes with its Full Text links (English, Hebrew) and one additional document: Haneen Naamnih and Suhad Bishara, The Law of the Promised Land 2011: Between Absentees and Foreigners, May 2011 (lines 1541-1547). Whether any part of this entry falls after line 1547 is held under Open questions on the source page.
