Summary
An Israeli prison described by B’Tselem cofounder Amnon Kapeliouk, as quoted by Shahd Abusalama, as especially designed “to break the spirit of prisoners” (Light in Gaza: Writings Born of Fire, PDF p.49).
Details
- Ismail Abusalama and Yacoub Odeh were moved together from Beersheba prison to Nafha in 1980 and held there until their life sentences were suspended in the 1985 prisoner swap (Light in Gaza: Writings Born of Fire, PDF p.49).
- Kapeliouk wrote that Nafha contained what Israel deemed “the ‘cream’ of the Palestinian prisoners”, in even more unbearable conditions than Beersheba (Light in Gaza: Writings Born of Fire, PDF p.49).
