Summary
A coalition of anti-Arafatist parties formed in 1985, including the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, PFLP-GC, PPSF, Fatah al-Intifada, al-Sa’iqa and a wing of the PLF, whose local members in Shatila and Burj al-Barajneh nevertheless cooperated with PLO forces in camp defence during the War of the Camps, defying their Syrian-allied leaderships (Beyond the Lines — Social Networks and Palestinian Militant Organizations in Wartime Lebanon, PDF p.139, p.145-147).
Details
- In Shatila, PNSF and PLO members formed a joint social committee from February 1985, and second-echelon officers coordinated civil defence, water, electricity, food and fortifications (Beyond the Lines — Social Networks and Palestinian Militant Organizations in Wartime Lebanon, PDF p.146).
- Syria punished PNSF cooperation with the PLO by ordering ceasefires, blocking resupply, demanding personnel lists and weapons inventories, and suspending the PFLP, DFLP and PFLP-GC weeklies (Beyond the Lines — Social Networks and Palestinian Militant Organizations in Wartime Lebanon, PDF p.149).
